Factories Act Registration and Awareness Camp Successfully Organized in Greater Noida; Over 160 Entrepreneurs Participated

In a major step toward industrial empowerment, transparency in governance, and the ease of doing business, the Industrial Business Association (IBA), in collaboration with the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), the Labour Department, and the Factory Department, successfully organized a "Factories Act Registration and Entrepreneur Awareness Dialogue Camp" at Aarya Fashions Campus, Udyog Kendra-2, Ecotech-3, Greater Noida.

Dignitaries addressing the gathering of Factories Act Registration Camp

As someone who is deeply engaged with MSME and industrial development initiatives in the state, especially in my role as a Chief Minister’s Entrepreneur Friend (Udyami Mitra). I was privileged to be a part of this transformative event. In this detailed post, I bring you the highlights, insights, and implications of what unfolded during this ground-level initiative aimed at building stronger connections between the administration and industrial stakeholders.

Why This Camp Was Crucial: Context and Objective

India’s commitment to improving its “Ease of Doing Business” rankings cannot be fulfilled unless micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises (MSMEs) at the grassroots level are supported in navigating legal compliances and administrative procedures. Despite digitalization and reforms, entrepreneurs often face hurdles in registering under critical laws like the Factories Act and the Shops and Commercial Establishments Act.

This awareness camp was designed not just as an information dissemination session but as an on-the-ground registration drive and open dialogue platform where government officials, industry leaders, and first-time entrepreneurs could interact directly. The aim was clear to simplify processes, clarify doubts, ensure registrations, and bridge the knowledge gap between law and enterprise.

Massive Participation: 160+ Entrepreneurs and On-the-Spot Registrations

The enthusiasm and participation were nothing short of remarkable.

More than 160 industrial entrepreneurs attended the camp, and approximately 70 of them completed their registrations on the spot under the Shops and Commercial Establishments Act  a significant feat showcasing the success and immediate utility of the initiative.

Entrepreneurs asking direct questions

The remaining participants were provided with step-by-step guidance on how to register themselves through the Nivesh Mitra portal, Uttar Pradesh’s flagship online single-window system for investor facilitation and clearances.

Eminent Dignitaries & Officers Present

The presence of several high-ranking officials lent the event both credibility and value. Key government figures who addressed and interacted with participants included:

  • Mr. Naveen Kumar Singh, Officer on Special Duty (OSD), GNIDA

Keynote Messages and Powerful Statements from the Dias

Detailed Process Demonstrations: Nivesh Mitra & Legal Registration

A major highlight of the event was the live demonstration of the registration process via the Nivesh Mitra Portal, along with verbal walkthroughs of procedures under:

  • The Factories Act, 1948

  • The Uttar Pradesh Shops and Establishments Act

  • Labour registration and compliance measures

  • Necessary documentation & deadlines

Experts from the Labour and Factory Departments answered dozens of live questions, from renewal processes to online document upload protocols, saving entrepreneurs time, money, and repeated government office visits.

On-the-Ground Solutions to On-the-Ground Problems

During open house sessions, entrepreneurs raised real issues they often face:

  • Delays in registration approval on the portal

  • Lack of clarity in required documents

  • Problems in updating worker numbers for ESI/EPF

  • Confusion between Shop Act vs Factory Act applicability

  • Safety compliance audits

Each query was answered patiently by officers, some even personally noting cases for follow-up — a powerful example of responsive governance in action.

IBA’s Active Executive Participation

Key IBA Executive Members who were instrumental in the success of the camp include:

  • Mr. Rakesh Aggarwal

  • Mr. Krishna Sharma

  • Mr. Naresh Chauhan

  • Mr. Ajay Kumar Sharma

  • Mr. Arvind Bhati

  • Mr. Sanjay Kumar Panchal

  • Mr. Harsh Tomar

  • Mr. Vimlesh Kumar and others

Their hands-on coordination, industry feedback, and organizational support were invaluable in turning this event into a milestone for Greater Noida's MSME sector.

Why Legal Awareness Is Non-Negotiable in Today’s Industrial Era

In a rapidly formalizing Indian economy, ignorance of legal procedures is no longer an excuse. Registrations under Acts like the Factory Act and the Shop & Establishment Act:

✅ Provide legal recognition to businesses
✅ Enable participation in government tenders & schemes
✅ Ensure safety and welfare of employees
✅ Build investor and stakeholder trust
✅ Protect against future liabilities or penalties

This event served as a timely reminder that legal compliance is the foundation of sustainable entrepreneurship.

IBA's Vision for the Future: More Interactive Governance

Inspired by the camp’s overwhelming success, IBA announced plans to organize more such interactive sessions and camps focusing on:

  • Digital transformation and paperwork reduction

  • MSME schemes and financial assistance awareness

  • Labour law compliance workshops

  • Industrial safety certifications

  • Women entrepreneurship support systems

This proactive approach will play a critical role in developing Greater Noida’s reputation as not just an industrial hub, but also as a model of industrial governance and inclusion.

Conclusion: A Meaningful Step in the Right Direction

This camp wasn't just another government outreach event. It was a powerful confluence of knowledge, action, and empathy. It sent a clear message:

Entrepreneurs are not alone. The system is willing to listen, help, and grow with them.

As someone committed to industrial development and policy facilitation in Uttar Pradesh, I see this initiative as a template that should be adopted across other industrial zones in India. I extend my deepest thanks to IBA, GNIDA, the Labour Department, the Factory Department, and especially the enterprising minds who attended the session.

Let this be the beginning of a new chapter of entrepreneurial empowerment, legal literacy, and collaborative governance in India.
